A musical montage of memories and magical moments fills out a fantastic finale. All of your ships may not have sailed yet, but there is likely a long way for the Kitauji high school band to go yet.
A confession, a re-uniting, and a sibling’s love. Pretty much everything is addressed in this very final episode. There’s a music competition going on as well, but it’s clearly not the focus. And there’s still one more episode after this! (To my surprise)
Reina looks to figure out where she stands in Taki-sensei’s life now that she knows a little more about him. Little does she realize, she already has a pretty active relationship going on through all of this. You know what I mean.
It’s super hard to please everyone in your life (so don’t). But there are certain times when you really have to let go of your mindset and accept your fate. Asuka, it’s your fate to be in this band, clearly.
Asuka’s history is revealed, and it’s more dramatic than probably expected. It’s simple enough to tell someone to follow their own path, but with such a personally emotional anchor it definitely isn’t easy. Another fantastic episode.
The same problems arise in every generation, so never assume that you’re the first of your kind. Someone else has been through it all before.
Kumiko hears about everything first, and Reina is consistently the voice of reason. This time it’s Asuka in the drama spotlight – with an issue all to real for many in high school and beyond.
If you’re going to make a reasonable representation of school life in Japan, you need to check all of the appropriate boxes. School festival? Check. Maid cafe? Check. Crushing romantic disappointment? Probably.
If you want inspirational speeches, you’ve come to the right place. This is grand finale quality stuff only five episodes in to the season – I can only imagine where it goes from here.
I hope you’re ready for tears, because this episode is full of them. Lesson of the week is to never assume that you know what is going on in someone else’s head. Next stop, Kansai competition.
